The implementation of career guidance activities by the STEM Center
The STEM Center, headed by Deputy Director V.O. Smirnov and the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyy Computational Mechanics Department, with the participation of teachers Y.E. Savchenko, S.S. Nekrasov, Ph.D. student Y.I. Sapozhnykov, and the head of the Materials Resistance Laboratory V.M. Shendryk, organized career guidance events.
In the first quater of 2024, 10th-grade students from School No.12 in Sumy, together with their physics teacher and class supervisor N.N. Surayeva, were invited to the Materials Resistance Laboratory. The director of the "Technology" center, Y.E. Savchenko, presented a report on the specialty of Computer Mechanics. Demonstrations included testing stands for axial tension, compression, and impact during transverse bending deformation. Testing with steel samples was conducted by instructor S.S. Nekrasov and laboratory head V.M. Shendryk.
Separately, work was done to prepare center students for participation in the annual spring conference scheduled for April 2024. Y.E. Savchenko, S.S. Nekrasov, and Y.I. Sapozhnykov were involved in the preparation process.
On March 6, 2024, an online meeting with Oleg Nesterov, a graduate of the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyy Computational Mechanics Department founder and CEO of MindK
On March 6, 2024, an online meeting with Oleg Nesterov, a graduate of the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyy Computational Mechanics Department founder and CEO of MindK, was held with students, graduate students and teachers of the Department of Computer Mechanics named after Volodymyr Marcinkovsky of Sumy State University. The meeting topic is "Modern employee: why technical skills are not the most important thing and the truth about project management". During the presentation, Oleg talked about the specifics of employers' requests and the soft and hard skills that a specialist should possess in the modern world of technology. He shared interesting cases of his own experience. The meeting participants had the opportunity to talk with Oleg, to learn about the secrets of the company's success. This meeting sets vectors for further scientific and research cooperation between students of higher education and real business, which allows for combining fundamental theoretical knowledge and unique practical skills.
On February 20, 2024, students and teachers of the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyy Computational Mechanics Department visited JSC "Sumy Plant "Nasosenergomash"
The excursion was devoted to researching the process of balancing rotors on the plant's production machines. Students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with this important production process and see it in detail activities. The tour was conducted by representatives of the plant, who explained the basic principles of balancing and answered the students' questions. For the participants of the tour, it was not only an opportunity to gain practical knowledge but also an important experience of communicating with an industrial enterprise.
Seminar on the topic Mechanical properties of soft tissues of the human body
Today, 17.01.2024, associate professor of the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyy Computational Mechanics Department, Dmytro Zhyhylii, gave a speech on the topic "Mechanical properties of soft tissues of the human body" within the cycle of interfaculty scientific seminars dedicated to the study of applied problems of mechanics, biomechanics and mechatronics. During the presentation, the speaker highlighted the main aspects of the mechanical characteristics of soft tissues and their impact on various aspects of biology and medicine. The event took place in a hybrid format and gathered many interested listeners, among whom were not only students and teachers but also others interested in this topic.
