Dmytro Zhigilii and Oleksandr Pozovnyi established cooperation with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Aerospace Engineering of the University of Liverpool in the following areas:

- defects in structural materials using optical methods of stress and strain measurement and analysis of thermal stress states;

- ultrasonic non-destructive assessment of defects in composites and other materials; prediction of residual strength or residual service life based on validation methodologies to increase confidence in predictions of computational models;

- application of image decomposition (or orthogonal decomposition) and statistical methods to compare simulation results, for example, displacement fields, with measurements of full-scale experiments.

Experiments were conducted based on the university laboratory of mechanical and aerospace engineering, which allowed us to obtain results for further scientific works.
